On 8 June 2017, the Ortec Group Engineering Division organised a digital breakfast dedicated to engineering. The event, which forms part of the Ortec Group digital transformation initiative, was dedicated to innovative solutions in the engineering professions. It allowed us to bring together the Group’s digital correspondents, project managers and engineers from the different Ortec Engineering Division subsidiaries. Over the course of a morning, they presented digital innovations that are either new or already deployed by other business units in the Group.
Digital innovation in engineering – services that make the difference
Through the Ortec Innovation Technical Division, the Ortec Digital Committee or the “Innov’O” challenge, the Ortec Group gives pride of place to innovation. The permanent resources and programmes are bolstered by specific initiatives, dedicated to a particular theme or problem: Innovation Cafés, digital breakfasts… The aim: anticipate the evolutions of each of the Group’s professions to propose innovative services offering greater effectiveness and quality to clients.
It is therefore within the scope of its research and innovation strategy that the Ortec Group started the Digital Breakfast initiative – the breakfast that wakes up innovation!
The starting point: many innovations that have already proven themselves within the Group can be applied to certain engineering professions and areas of expertise.
Tablet-based data collection, 3D printing, augmented reality or interactive zoning… the list is long. These innovations, which have already been deployed within the Group, are put through their paces daily, and make a concrete difference in terms of improved quality, increased accuracy, reduced intervention times, strengthened data security and accessibility, reduced costs and risks of errors, or process automation.
On 8 June 2017, by bringing together the digital correspondents and the project managers and engineers from the different engineering subsidiaries, the Digital Breakfast initiative allowed us to brainstorm on concrete applications for these innovations within the Group’s Engineering Division.
And share feedback, client needs and trends in the different sectors of activity.
After having presented client case studies and an overview of existing innovations, the participants also brought forward new ideas, which are currently being studied.
